Typically, you'll find tightly grained maple so dense you have to get a microscope to find the medullary rays. I can't say the sound now is "woody" - it's definitely a metal tone ring sound, but with the Kat Eyz bridge it's now much fuller, rounder, mellower, and more balanced across the tonal spectrum than it ever was before. As soon as I put them on I could hear a difference in tone and volume. Dealing with Tim couldn't have been better. The instrument is still new to me, and I'm really liking it as I get used to it, but there were some minor intonation quirks up the neck that seemed to indicate a compensated bridge.
